Lessons learned from the Google Design Jam

Last night I went to my first SOCHI-sponsored Design Jam, hosted by representatives from Google. We were presented with a great, off-the-wall design problem, then encouraged to come up with our own individual solutions. We then worked in groups of 3-4 to focus on one idea (or a combination of a few) that would be presented to a larger group.

It was a great opportunity to practice brainstorming and collaborative problem-solving, but I think the most important thing I learned relates to the way we approached the problem, and ultimately decided to present our idea. Here’s two lessons I took from the experience:
